Mark Friedman, '20, Political Science

Honoring First-Generation College Graduates

Congratulations to all our First-Generation College Student Graduates!
In honor of December graduation, we'd like to introduce a few of our first-gen grads, in their own words:

My Name is Mark Friedman and my major is Political Science with a minor in History. I attended Montgomery College in both Rockville and Germantown before UMBC.

I chose UMBC because prior to my last semester at Montgomery College I was contacted about transferring to UMBC. I wanted to finish at MC, since I wanted to wait before I decided about my future. But, I met with Tim Cox and was impressed with UMBC's program.

The people at UMBC who have been instrumental to my success were Tim Cox, Chelsea Moyer, and Dr. Dasgupta as were Caitlin Scheidegger, Abby Granger  and my professors.

During the Spring Semester (2018). I had the experience of being a Legislative Aide with Delegate Aruna Miller in Annapolis. This experience helped prepare me for my goals after graduation.

After graduation, I would like to work in the office of a Congressman or Senator with the knowledge and experiences I have gained !!!!
