Hey Commuters, Interested in Living On-Campus?
If so, it's time to apply for the next academic year!
Undergraduate commuter students have two ways to apply for 2025-2026 housing:
1. Participate in the Housing Selection process; or
2. Complete a General Housing Application
Participate in Housing Selection
Participation in the Housing Selection process guarantees students housing for the 2025-2026 academic year and allows you to choose your roommates and room. As a commuter you must meet the following criteria to be issued the Residential Life Housing Selection application:
Currently enrolled: You must be actively enrolled as a full-time student for the Spring 2025 semester.
Good Financial Standing: If you have an outstanding balance greater than $250 you will not be eligible to complete the application until you clear your bill with Student Business Services.
Apply for Walker Avenue Apartments
If you meet the above criteria and want to participate in Walker Avenue Housing Selection, please complete a “Commuter Student Housing Selection Participant Request Form” with a current resident between February 1, 2025 and March 1, 2025.
Apply for Residential Life Housing
If you meet the above criteria and want to participate in Residential Life Housing Selection, please complete a “Commuter Student Housing Selection Participant Request Form” with a current resident between February 1, 2025 and April 12, 2025. Please note that the Residential Life Housing Selection process does not include Walker Avenue Apartments. You can review the Residential Life Housing Selection page and resources to learn more about the Housing Selection process.
Housing Interest Application (Waitlist)
The Housing Interest Application will be made available to all commuters on February 1, 2025 Students who complete the Housing Interest Application will be added to the housing waitlist. Unlike the Housing Selection process, students on the housing waitlist are not guaranteed housing.
If you are on the waitlist you will be contacted via UMBC email if and when a space becomes available. A housing offer would be sent electronically to the student’s UMBC email as early as mid-May. Students who accept their offer by completing the license (contract) and reservation fee are guaranteed housing for the upcoming license term. Offers are made based on the availability of space. Students will remain on the waitlist until we are able to make them an offer.
