What to do if you get an academic alert

Did you get a First Year Intervention (FYI) Academic Alert? Here are your next steps.

An FYI alert is sent by instructors to students to notify them that they are in danger of receiving a D or F in a course. If you received an alert, make sure to contact your instructor immediately to understand what your exact grade is and what you can do about it. Visit the Action Resource Center for more resources that can help you preserve your GPA. It may be possible to pass your class even if you receive an alert. 

After communicating with your instructor, you may also want to consult your academic advisor to understand what grade you need in the class (if it is a pre-requisite or general education requirement, you need to earn C or higher, and in some majors a B is required). The last day this semester to drop a class with a W grade is April 6, 2021.

The Academic Success Center offers many resources to help students succeed. Students can attend tutoring, SI PASS review sessions, have a one-to-one meeting to focus on time management, study skills and accessing campus resources.
