Get Involved! Earn Points! Win Prizes!
What is the Commuter Gold Cup?
The Commuter Gold Cup is a rewards competition for the entire UMBC student body! Starting August 30th, students who attend and participate in UMBC events and activities will earn points and be eligible to win prizes at the end of the semester!
Do I need anything to start?
First you would need to purchase a Commuter Gold Card ($5 for commuter students and $10 for resident students). Then you be able to enter your Gold Card here to compete.
Where can I go to earn Commuter Points (CP)?
Any UMBC event can earn you Commuter Points!
How much is each event worth?
Below is the general layout for point values:
Commuter Connection: 500 CP
Good Morning Commuter Breakfast: 150 CP
OCSS events (Transfer, Veterans, Adult Learners): 250 CP
Major UMBC events (festival, homecoming, etc): 200 CP
Sports events: 100 CP
CIC ticketed events: 200 CP
(seb) events: 100 CP
All other events: 50 CP
Additionally, you can earn an additional 100 CP for every social media post you share with us.
How do I validate my commuter points?
There are several validation options. You may:
- Show your Commuter Gold Card to a Commuter Assistant at the event.
- Bring a ticket (or other form of physical evidence) to the OCSS office.
- Publish a social media post on one of our pages (Facebook, Instagram, and/or Twitter)
Where can I track my points?
Check out the leaderboard here. See where you rank! Points will be updated weekly.
What can I do with my Commuter Points?
Points are automatically applied under your Commuter Gold Card profile. Reaching one of the thresholds below earns you a raffle entry for the prize level
- Gold: 6000 CP
- Silver: 4000 CP
- Bronze: 2000 CP
When is the raffle? How does it work?
The Commuter Gold Cup raffle will take place in December. All participants in that medal status will be eligible to win prizes within that tier. Reaching gold, gives you the ability to win prizes in all three tiers and increases your chances of winning a prize.
